It's like I, Claudius meets Jane Austen.
I'm burning through all of Riverside this autumn. This was a strong episode, with a lot of exciting twists and turns. Perhaps a bit heavy-handed in using multiple peripheral snippets to elaborate the poison featured. The fight scene was decent, and the character developments and the thickening of plot were excellent.
Tremontaine - episodes 9, 10 and 11 I'm still behind with this series, since the season finale (with more to come in October, thank the gods!) of Tremontaine has just been released, so I'm desperately trying to catch up.Of course, I could have caught up and read the whole thing by now if I hadn't been listening to the audiobook version of each episode, rather than reading it as text, but once I'd started with the series that way, it seemed wrong to stop midway through! The fact it's a 13-episode...
getting crazy
Onwards with episode Ten (Season One) of Tremontaine titled Shadowroot written by Joel Derfner.Death returns to Riverside. Diane makes a fateful choice. When Tess finds herself plagued by nightmares of the murdered Ben, Kaab vows to solve the case. But she may never get the chance, for Reynald is on her trail, with more murder on his mind. Meanwhile, Will tells Diane of Micah's discovery, but her response is not what he had hoped for. And Micah gets an unexpected job offer.Loved this one. Fores...
High drama in this episode! One of the best ones yet!The segment starts with foreshadowing, telling us about a legendary poison which makes the victim behave in an irrational and paranoid manner... we can guess that someone will be using this herb, but who will it be?In additional to the politicking and plotting, we get an action-packed showdown in the form of a sword duel, and a hefty dose of romance. Zipping right along...
I think Derfner's might be my favourite episodes here. That said, this was a particularly sad and painful one, with a lot of terrible things happening, and so it's doubly important for the writing to work. It did.I thought Kaab's POV was stellar once again, and Diane's worked well. And I'm truly engrossed now.(Read courtesy of NetGalley, etc. etc.)
William shares Micah’s calculations with Lady Diane. She punishes him, without him knowing it. Kaab stops her tail Reynald in Riverside and he challenges her. Rafe, his friends, and Will go looking for a building for his new school, but William is distracted. I read this on the Kindle.
Ahh it just got so real! This chapter had so much action and suspense. One of my favorites.
Shocking!!! Compared to the two previous installments written by the author. If I didn't know better I'd think someone ghost wrote this one for him and he just put his name on it. 'Shadowroot', loaded with details, written like short snippets of information and flows decently together. While the author tries to be clever, starts the installment talking about poison but it's pretty easy to figure out who would be using said poison and what it be mixed in. Did like IxKaab's point of view, then you...
Oooooooooooo.
This is getting very suspenseful!
The end is nearWe're getting close to the end of this season of Tremontaine (hopefully there will be more!), so things are starting to approach their resolutions.
