Somehow, this feels like one of the more low-key episodes in this serial, even though two key events happen here: (view spoiler)[Micah finally has her Eureka! moment regarding the secret of celestial navigation, and a clue is given that the Duchess' secret is something that will destroy her social position - not just her fortune - if revealed. (hide spoiler)]It went quickly, therefore moving quickly along to the next...(Today I got "Season Two" of this serial, so I'm enjoying it enough to commit...
This was my first read from the author Paul Witcover, liked 'Lies In Our Stars' it works with the other installments, the flow of his writing's perfect and hope he be writing more installments in the other seasons of the Tremontaine series. It was only a matter of time before Micah would figure out the equations, realize that IxKaab mislead her and the author put you right their at the butcher shop as she wrote figures on the shop window. Plus the scene at the Inkpot comes to life with Micah, Ra...
Not too much to say about this chapter - it felt mostly transitory, though with some plot progression and good characterisation happening in the background. Still, I feel like some authors have a much better handle on one character than another, and Diane and Micah (as well as Rafe) in particular can sound different from one installment to the next: perhaps unavoidably so. On top of that, some explanations / inner monologues sound like echoes of information we already have from earlier parts, wh...
damn this is excellent! You know you are reading a great political intrigue when you are rooting for all sides and are nervous for everyone, least the plot actually unfold. I love hanging on the tender hooks with this series!
Onwards with episode Nine (Season One) of Tremontaine titled Lies In Our Stars written by Paul Witcover. As Micah explores the implications of her discovery, and Rafe moves quickly to exploit them, Kaab is faced with a calamity that threatens not only her own future, but that of her family and the Kinwiinik people.I need to get a move on with this series as I didn’t renew my Realm supscription (don’t use it enough) and I only have a week left. Eep! As always I adore Katherine Kellgren’s Diane. He...
Tremontaine - episodes 9, 10 and 11 I'm still behind with this series, since the season finale (with more to come in October, thank the gods!) of Tremontaine has just been released, so I'm desperately trying to catch up.Of course, I could have caught up and read the whole thing by now if I hadn't been listening to the audiobook version of each episode, rather than reading it as text, but once I'd started with the series that way, it seemed wrong to stop midway through! The fact it's a 13-episode...
Micah has a brilliant conclusion, and then the poop hits the spinning blades.
I'm burning through all of Riverside this autumn.A tense episode, with some key developments. Discoveries are made, minds are settled, and allegiances are tested and adjusted accordingly. It's a bit of a transitionary piece, but a decent read with some stand-out scenes, chiefly among them a stand-off between three close friends - can they stay that way? - and a chance for the Duchess to display excellent manipulation tactics.
