This book was another sweet cozy afternoon read. More than one mystery to intrigue readers and the characters are developing naturally as the reader becomes more involved with them in each book. I enjoy this type of mystery because the amateur sleuth, Abby, works closely with the police chief every step of the way.
Another 5-star read from this author.I love how each book has more than one mystery going on inside the pages, and reading about the refurbishing of her mansion that she plans to turn into an inn.The details are amazing, and the descriptions of the foods her roommate makes, plus the other meals throughout make my mouth water, lol!
Ho hum. Three books in and her Inn still isn't finished? I'm getting bored now. I will read the next one in the series but if the Inn isn't open by that one, I'm done. Yes, I get it, it's an old house and you want to do it right--and with deep pockets with no end, I guess there's no hurry. Yes, I'm being sarcastic. Our author wants us to overlook the fact that these types of renovations are enormously expensive, as is going antiquing to furnish the place. Also the fact that she seems to have the...
Once again Kathi Daley has hit it out of the park with her third book of The Inn at Holiday Bay series. I hadn't read the previous two books in the series but found I could follow the storyline in this book. As always Kathi has included pets and a strong woman character. Abby Sullivan, the main character, has moved her life from California to Holiday Bay, Maine where she has purchase a grand house full of history with intentions of opening a Bed and Breakfast with her friend, Georgia Carter. Her...
Hooked on this series!I am absolutely hooked on this series. I have tried to take a break in between each book, but as soon as I start reading another series, my mind wanders to Abby, Georgia, Velma, Colt and all the other wonderful characters in this series.I love that each book is about something found in Abby's beautiful home. I'm also on the edge of my seat, wondering why someone is after a file that her husband may have had.I know Colt will never let anyone hurt Abby, but I'm getting really...
Message In The MantelThe Inn At Holiday Bay, Book #3Kathi Daley5 StarsA heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an i...
The third story in this series was a nice surprise. Surprise seems to be the name of the game here. I have expected little less than what Daley dished out in two successive books. No more though. I expect the next book to be nothing than perfection. If I'll then be disappointed, I'll console myself with the fact that my attention span is getting so short that it will soon be shorter than the wavelengths of light. Nothing like physics humour to lighten up the mood. Not everything is spelled out in...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I do the whole series so far. Abby is having a mantel restored in the home that she is remodeling into a bed and breakfast when a secret compartment is found. Add a home that seems to have the owner passing away under ordinary circumstances that turns up more information that is expected. This book keeps you turning the pages. I love how Ms. Daley ties in a mystery from the past along with a current day murder, it keeps things moving. I also love all her charac...
Kathi Daley has really outdone herself with this latest book in The Inn at Holiday Bay series. It looks like there may be a bit of possible romance in the future as well if things keep going the way they are with the handsome cop, Colt. I loved the antiquing in this book, and am thoroughly enjoying all of the interesting things that have been coming to light in the amazing house Abby has purchased to transform into a B&B. Each book in this enchanting series bring me joy and I am already eagerly
Awkward.I have read most of Kathi Daley's books, and enjoyed most of them. This was a serious disappointment. The "message" in the mantel has nothing to do with the story. The mystery the book revolves around is uninteresting. Ms. Daley and her editor have, again, forgotten what an apostrophe is, making all conversations awkward.A very disappointing read. I wouldn't recommend this book.
Message in the Mantel is the third book in Kathi Daley’s awesome The Inn at Holiday Bay series. The writing style flows smoothly, and the book is a clean and easy read. The storyline is well-plotted and complex, with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are affable, compassionate, and caring. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.Abby Sullivan’s life changed forever b...
"Message in the Mantle" earns 5/5 Secrets Galore...Engaging Fun!Real experts are a necessity when completing renovations of a vintage home, so Lonny hires just such an expert to refurbish the living room's mantle. When he arrives he explains the mantle may be one carved by Samuel Garrison, an eighteenth-century craftsman. Seeking providence for this mantle, Georgia finds the artist always added a secret compartment to his work...surprise! Life beyond the mantel mystery continues with antique hun...
Holiday Bay, Maine. Present day. Kathi Daley’s Message in the Mantel (The Inn at Holiday Bay #3) is a very active installment to this series that made me miss Maine a great deal. Abby Sullivan thought that her life was over after the heartbreaking deaths of her husband and son. She buys his huge mansion in Holiday Bay, Maine - site unseen. She had to leave San Francisco and, hopefully, the sadness behind so Abby bought this beautifully built mansion in Maine. In Message in the Mantel, Abby disco...
Another exciting book in this amazing series! I am enjoying learning the secrets of the house and mysteries that are solved from long ago. It makes me want to buy an old house and fix it up! I can’t wait for it to be finished and begin meeting the visitors to this bed and breakfast. Thank you Kathi Daley for another installment in this series!
Mixed bag, I just don't know what to expect next! Now I am going to include spoilers because I have really found this one just.. well, frankly.. odd.. it seems to skip about and I had to go back and forth making sure I hadn't missed something! So here's a *****SPOILER ALERT*****Ok so some of the random plot holes from the previous book are brushed over at the start bit like an after thought. However, the laptop contents are still not mentioned and when the detective from Ben's old precinct asks ag...
