I did have problems with this book, but I am convinced of the talent of the author if she makes the read addictive, which Kathi Daley did. I liked this book enough and the set up for the future books was a touch of genius. You don't ever see a cliffhanger in a cozy mystery. What I took away from the book in the beginning was a repetition of ideas. There was also a boring set up involving the expansion of both the renovation of Abby's mansion and the circle of friends of her. She is the main chara...
Surprised I didn't like this one much as I adored the first one. The dialogue in this one was an issue for me.....it seemed too forced, too convenient. Some of the characters even sounded the same so it was hard to gauge their individual personalities. I still love the setting and see potential so I'll continue with the series.
Mysteries from the past. Abby and Georgia are given a bunch of old letters found during the inns renovations. Determined to figure out who the letter writers were send them all over town to talk to residents who would have been old enough to remember the couple. Helping Colt solve a cold case that was initially ruled an accident has Abby delving into her husband's past to find answers. This is a great storyline, and the characters are developing with each new book. I hate the cold, but her descr...
Great readOk only the second book in this wonderful series by Kathi Daley and I'm sooo hooked. I should have known because all of her books are great I can't wait to see what happens next if you love a great cozy with characters you will love and a story that keeps you turning the page then this is a must read
Loved the intricacy of this mystery. This series is getting better with each new book! I thought the end, leaving us with a hint that there might be another mystery, that is likely linked to this one was a great touch.Waiting excitedly for the next book!
The author has a few balls up in the air in this book, but she juggles them seamlessly, toggling between the multiple storylines. I like how she tied the first book to this one - an interesting solve to the crimes. Sure love the cover art on this one! A great read as usual.
Wow! That's was awesomeWow! That was awesome and a great read and I can't wait for book two. I love to read and get lost in books, because to me it's better than television. I just don't like the steamy sex parts, because it takes away the good parts of the book.Cherie A Harlow
Loved This MysteryI loved this latest mystery. The story was intriguing with a varied cast of characters. There was plenty of suspense together with twists and turns. This book is recommended for those who love cozy mysteries.
In this second book of the series Abby is settling into her new life in Holiday Bay and the construction on her recently purchased Inn is coming along. During the construction a bundle of letters is found in a wall and after reading them her roommate Georgia wants to see if she can locate anyone connected to them. Meanwhile Chief Colt is beginning to believe that a you g woman's death the previous summer wasn't an accident but murder. He asks Abby if she would like to help him look into the deat...
This was a enjoyable afternoon read for me. The setting is beautiful and the characters all seem to genuine and likable. The mystery was engaging and I liked how well Georgia, Abby and Colt all worked together to solve not one but two mysteries. This is the second book in the series and I did feel a little confused by several references to the previous mystery in the first book. I will definitely be going back to pick up the first book so I can understand the background of the characters.
Delightful characters and a well done plot make this a must read.
Kathi Daley’s The Inn at Holiday Bay: Letters in the Library (Holiday Bay #2) continues Abby Sullivan’s ‘new’ life, her second chance at life, after losing the two most important people in her life. Abby buys and begins to remodel an old mansion in Maine which she is planning to open as an inn. As the remodeling begins in the old library, some letters, written in 1954, are discovered. These letters start the first storyline. A bit later in this book, another storyline begins which ‘is attached’
The Inn at Holiday Bay: Letters in the LibraryThe Inn At Holiday Bay, Book #2Kathi Daley5 StarsSynopsis:A heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named
Totally enjoyed this book. A bundle of letters is found during renovations that catches the interest of Abby and Georgia to see if they can find out more. Chief Wilder finds a clue to a case a year old, which opens up a whole series of even more questions, some that tie to Abby's past. I love how Ms. Daley ties a side story into the mystery, so the book never slows down. I also love that the mystery doesn't have to include a recent dead body, I love the cold case feel to it. I will definitely co...
The Inn at Holiday Bay: Letters in the Library is the second book in this series by Kathi Daley. Ms. Daley seamlessly connected the first book in this series to the second. Abby has decided to resume her career as an author while continuing the renovations on the conversion of her house to a B&B. In the process a parcel of old love letters was found in the library. Those letters led to numerous questions and mysteries. Who wrote the letters? When were they written? Who became pregnant? What happ...
YawnIntriguing town and sweet characters. Such a slow and calming pace with very formal dialogue leads me to wanting a nap instead of the next chapter. There's a lot of repetition of the main plot and the book just ended. Period. I thought surely there would be more of a closing, maybe bring something emotional or exciting into the story but no. You can definitely count on a visit to Holiday Bay for R and R.
Letters in the Library is the second book in Kathi Daley’s The Inn at Holiday Bay series. The writing style flows smoothly, and the book is a clean and easy read. The mystery is well-plotted and complex, with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged and guessing. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are affable, compassionate, and caring. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.Abby Sullivan’s life changed forever because a...
This is a good second book to this series, but there is a cliffhanger. I don’t do cliffhangers very well and usually avoid books when I know they have one. That being said, I am excited to see how everything turns out. Kathi Daley certainly knows how to grab and hold my attention. I can’t wait to read book 3!
Old secrets keptWhen Abby's life was turned upside down by a distracted driver, she choses new life far away from her current one. She made new friends, one of which is the Police Chief, who she helped solve a murder. Now they are tackling another case, when they find ties to her previous life. Great plot, with several interesting storylines woven in. This is shaping up to be another hit series.
