This is a very interesting book which explores concepts such as the soul (energy, presence- insert a word that feels comfortable), prayer and ceremony in a non-religious and modern framework. I am definitely team sceptic however, I think that most people will take something from this book and find a passage that resonates with them. In a modern world where we are constantly rushing around and stressed I think that there is much to be learned from our ancestors who conducted their lives in a much...
This is Fearne's best book by far and I have absolutely loved it. One I will go back to and re read different chapters when I'm needing some inspiration.
People of today are addled with stresses, anxieties, hustle culture and relentless social media. Finding pockets of peace and calm in such a busy world is so difficult, never mind finding time to connect to yourself and listen to what your mind has been trying to tell you. I know for me, if I don’t feel like I’m being productive, I feel stressed. I thrive on achievement but is that what I really need? This book will help you gently analyse yourself and your thoughts through Fearnes words as she a...
**Listened to the audio book, and read along to electronic copy**I bloody love Fearne Cotton, and this definitely one of the books I was most looking forward to reading in 2022. I had preordered the audio book as soon as I was able. I was excited to read a book about all of my favourite things, and all things spirituality. I was excited to learn more! This book covered a great deal, but unfortunately it didn't go into much detail - this left me a little disappointed. Cotton had interviewed some o...
Over recent years, Fearne Cotton has refocussed her career and life to spend more time looking at connection rather than living a life of celebrity glitz and glamour. This book is the result of Fearne exploring the more spiritual things - those things that are "bigger than us". I approached with this book with some trepidation and scepticism. I like Fearne and often listen to her podcast (Happy Place), but I'm not a spiritual person. However, I needn't have feared. Fearne, with her usual kindnes...
I love Fearn. I am obsessed with her Happy Place podcast, but the audiobook format of this book did not work for me one bit. Fearn’s numerous lengthy colourful descriptions and metaphors made me confused and many times - lost. Shame, as I truly believe in the message the book was trying to send.
DNF. Not for me.
Dare I say it but I think I took a lot more out of this book than I have from any of Fearne’s others. I’m interested in spiritual things anyway and I found a lot written here was very interesting (I particularly liked the ‘interviews’ within). Good read.
Really enjoyed this, some super interesting insights and suggestions, and a refreshing perspective. I purchased after listening to the first chapter which was released on the happy place podcast so would recommend if not sure about reading :)
I enjoyed this book and there were quite a few take homes from it - I think it’s my favourite of all of her books that I’ve read so far. Fearne talks about her own journey, blocks, vulnerabilities and life-limiting beliefs and how she’s tackled these or found tools to help her to connect with the universe and a more spiritual side that brings more peace and harmony to life than the constant need to rush through the world at the speed of life can ever bring. The writing is honest and authentic an...
A very thought provoking book exploring all things spiritual. I indulged myself in its pages, open to everything Fearne brought to the table. So much made sense, so much resonated deeply. There were many 'yes' moments. Fearne is searching for the answers. I like that she addresses the 'busyness' our current world seems to encourage, even advocate. It's almost becoming glamorous to play 'I'm so busy' trump cards. The book almost makes you feel that it is accepting to step away from that and explo...
I have read all of Fearne Cotton's books and they are all brilliant. This did not disappoint. Speaking with spirituality and thought leaders, she helps understand anxiety, self-limiting beliefs in a relatable, non-preachy way.
This is the first book I have read by Fearne and it is one that you can take things from and others leave behind. I thoroughly enjoyed it as a read and it has meant that from it I have looked and ordered other books that she recommends. I will certainly be reading further books from Fearne and exploring more of the areas that she writes about in this book.
I’ve read all of Fearne Cotton’s books and I think that this is probably my favourite. The book is presented in an easy to read style while introducing us to things that are, truly, Bigger Than Us…… spirituality, faith, reiki, shamanism, mediumship, manifesting, and Enneagram numbers among other. I found the book enlightening, thought provoking and beautiful. Fearne has inspired me to live my life in a more thankful way, looking for the positives in life and focusing on love. I have always been
I was conflicted if I should give 3 or 4 stars, since I actually don't believe in spiritual stuff. But I believe that the provided methods actually do provide benefits.Even if you're not spiritual, you can get something out of it by connecting the content from the book with your experience and maybe even science.
I have loved the inquisitive and curious nature of this book. It’s written with an open mind without judgement. Very like Fearne’s Happy Place podcast.
In a modern world full of stress, anxiety and the pressure to constantly be doing more, this book is essential reading.Featuring interviews covering topics such as meditation, prayer, ritual, the enneagram and more, Fearne embarks on a journey to find peace, calm and connection. I indentified with her search for peace and contentment and empathised with her mental health struggles. Her passion for the subjects covered is evident and I loved her enthusiasm and open mindedness.Even now, a couple o...
‘This book’s purpose is to get us all looking at the concepts that are bigger than our own individual thoughts.’ - Fearne Cotton, Bigger Than UsI very quickly got the sense that this book is a real passion project for Fearne Cotton and it’s packed full of enthusiasm and the desire to learn more from those who she speaks to as part of ‘Bigger than Us.’ I went into reading this book with a completely open mind and many of the subjects in this book are not ones that I have delved deep into before.
Thankyou Fearne for this beautiful & thought provoking book. It explores a number of areas relating to spirituality & wellness in an accessible way & light hearted way. The balance between information & anecdotal stories from Fearne’s own experiences is the perfect balance. I’m grateful for the new reading material that has come from reading this book too through the interviews with notable people in each sector.
