Selina Kyle was a pleasant surprise in this issue. Other than that this was pretty slow moving with hardly any Batman but overall this story would have been a much better sequel to Batman Returns than was Batman Forever.
What could have been part 2It is unfortunate that we got the neon comic romp rather than one that points out the on going racial disparity. I am grateful that Sam Hamm chose to write about them here rather than make it a typical Batman saving Gotham from supervillians story.
I like the retro style of this series and also the way it takes some classic characters and bring them on a different side. Original and a lot of fun!
A bit slow. Harvey Dent makes a speech that angers the people in power by siding with the poor in Burnside. Robin makes an appearance and beats up some looters taking advantage of the chaos ensuing during protests sparked by police collateral damage killings. Dent's Burnside garage starts on fire, and Dent may be injured in the fire.
Rounded up from 3.5 ⭐️. Good follow up issue. Art is progressing nicely along with the story.
It is so exciting that they have brought this story back right where Batman Returns left us.
This is getting better, especially in the art department - this is a major improvement over the first issue and the story is deepening as well. Without getting into spoilers, its kind of neat to see how Hamm was going to introduce Two-Face and Robin into the movies before he wasn't involved in those later films.
As societal problems run rampant in Burnside and a vigilante make their mark, we see the build-up to introducing Two-Face into this universe. I love what's being done with this series, from art to writing, and I can't wait to see how it'll continue even further on.
We get a little glimpse of the Robin of this continuity and see the progression of Harvey Dent's trajectory.
It’s starting to get interesting. An interesting take on Robin and Harvey Dent begins to unravel. It would have been interesting to see this instead of Batman Forever. I like the course correction from the movies that should never have been made. Great writing and the art focuses on being of the time and keeps era specific. The little details place it right in the early 90s.
Wow. I liked the Burnside-race-harvey dent connections being made in the first issue, but the last thing I expected was some ripped from the headlines cops shooting black people during a protest and killing innocents while going after Batman story. This is fantastic, very interesting. The art is gorgeous as always, with great, slightly cartoony likenesses of the original actors. Harvey Dent talking about code-switching, and living in two gothams, the idea that he exists in two worlds already is
Better than the first issue.
