Let me say that when you pick this up, you won’t be disappointed. Erin has created a wonderful story that was brought to life thanks to wonderful performances by Joe Arden, Carly Robins, Lance Greenfield and Erin. Their performances of each character was so good. You could feel what each character was feeling and experience what they were experiencing. Loved this audio play and can’t wait to listen to more of them from her.
So, I started listening to Branched without really knowing what to expect and wow, this was really something. It really kinda is an absurdist comedy, people might even call it peculiar or eccentric but for me, it was something refreshingly different and I enjoyed every entertaining minute of this play.I am amazed by Erin´s brain, what she comes up with and thinks about. Erin is not afraid to address certain topics. There are many hidden messages and everyday topics cloaked in humour that makes y...
Ben is about to become a big brother with a new baby joining the family very soon. He has been an only child for five years and this will be a huge adjustment for him. He has a wide vocabulary and a vast amount of knowledge for someone so young. His parents have their own unique way of parenting and this includes some interesting daily rituals. When their baby daughter arrives the family nucleus changes again. Mum definitely makes the decisions in this household and Dad struggles to find his own...
Erin has opened my eyes to a whole new genre. I personally enjoyed it, thank you Erin for giving us exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I love that there are really no rules, and what comes out is oddly refreshing and funny. I couldn’t stop listening; this family is strange in all the ways. Some of it is a little out there but with that the under tone of real or not real. It is really quite interesting.LOVED the narration each voice is perfect for the characters! I don’t think I can ever listen...
Overall ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2Performance ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Erin Mallon has a gift for words. This play was cheeky, humorous with a dash of strange. Yes. Strange, but it works. First, the sound mixing was amazing. From the background noises to violin to how well layered the voices were done. Just a pleasure to listen to. The story is quirky and ends on a curious note. I liked that aspect though and while I thought it was written well, the story wasn’t something I would normally gravitate to. The narr...
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️In a world currently without live theater, Erin Mallon is our heroine!! Branched is the latest brainchild of the hilarious and wonderfully twisted Erin Mallon. Through her signature satire, Branched explores parenting, marriage, and family dynamics. Erin once again packs all the laughs into a 90 minute audio play that leaves you delightfully satisfied and also wanting to hear so much more! The cast of Branched delivers comedic perfection! Performances from Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Lance...
That was so unexpected, and yet so incredible! In the end, everything sort of makes sense, though you’ll have to think about it a lot to get to a conclusion. Don’t worry, you WILL be thinking about it a lot.As usual with the author, the play is a delicious mix of humor, drama, original situations and unforgettable characters. Here she tackles weird family dynamics, cheating, and child abuse. And yet you’ll laugh, and feel for the characters–even the deranged mother, because in the end, she only
Every single time I see or hear something from Erin Mallon, I think this is the time she’s not going to have my full attention. This is the time that she isn’t going to captivate me. Not because I don’t have faith in her, but because I’m a firm believer in not every book or play being for every person. The thing is, Erin has yet to let me down. Every time I listen to something she has created, I am blown away with her mind and skill. Branched was quite the mind-trip. It was funny and thought-pro...
Seriously. How does Erin think of these plays? This one had me cracking up the whole time. And it also made me think. What’s real? What’s fake? It’s a witty play based in NYC that kept me listening to the very last second. I love audio plays and would absolutely love to see this one live in person. It’s one that leaves you thinking at the end about just how weird the world can be. But also how accepting and funny it can be. This play is the whole package. Erin always picks the perfect narrator f...
3.75 Stars I'm not sure entirely how to rate this or how to write this review. But this was weird. Not in a bad way. In a hilarious way. It made me smile and I had NO IDEA AT ALL how it was all going to play out. So if you're looking for something funny, wacky and a little bit...cracked. Then Branched might just be the play for you. I volunteered to listen to an ALC of this. All opinions are my own.
Branched: A Comedy with Consequences by Erin Mallon, narrated by Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Lance Greenfield, and Carly Robins, was an original, laugh-out-loud audiobook. The characters are entertaining and a bit out there in a very delightful way. A family who lead their lives in their own way without apologies, but are they all really happy? Add in an unexpected addition in their very unique daughter and a teacher/real estate agent who finds herself entering the family dynamic in a very unexpecte...
Erin Mallon has written another witty, unique, and fantastic audio play! Branched: A Comedy with Consequences definitely was a little eccentric, but super entertaining that brought on a lot of laughs. This audio play was performed by Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Lance Greenfield, and Carly Robins. The entire cast was amazing! Although I have to say, five year old Joe Arden was absolutely hilarious and totally believable. Who knew?! Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins also fully embraced their characters...
Witty, hilarious and totally insaneOne hilarious playFour superb narratorsYet again Erin Mallon has won me over with her brilliant writing of this hilarious play. Not only that, but she also has four superb narrators, including herself, providing the voices to the amazing characters. Joe Arden, Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins were the perfect choices to bring the characters and play to life. The play is witty, hilarious and totally insane. It takes on a different, off-beat perspective of family...
I'm always surprised and delighted by the truly off-beat humor each time I listen to a play by Erin Mallon, and Branched definitely continues to exceed my expectations and make me truly laugh out loud. I would love to be a fly on the wall while Erin is writing. Branched is definitely an off-beat, mildly disturbing, but totally funny social commentary. The characters are over-the-top, the dialog is extra witty, and the narration matches the irreverence of the material perfectly. Joe Arden, Carly
This was different, unique, and funny that will have you laughing, confused and entertained. The narrators do such a great job of bringing this quirky family to life and the author did a great job of showcasing a lot of the crazy. I couldn't stop laughing at times because many of the things portrayed here I have experience in and this is just so over-the-top crazy that you can't help but laugh. There are some triggers and serious moments however but the way the author and narrators brought it to...
It was pretty thought provoking, whacky & eerie kind of audiobook! You are truly thinking about the pressures of relationships, parenting, and the off-shoot from those choices. You truly see how adults’ mind works as well of a kids’ mind... from the innocent to the what you want to call “this is normal.” A little sense of off-best humor to recognizing a little bit of real ness/issues with couples nowadays. It’s up to you! The writing is great and the cast were lovely!!! For me, it was quite a lo...
A Play in my ears! So unique and fun. At first, I thought mom Tamara was the wacky one. They're all a hot mess. In a good way. I love Ben. (Joe Arden is perfect). All my favorite narrators. Well done Erin. So many laughs. Very sly humor!
I was laughing out loud within the first two minutes. This play was so funny and the comedic timing of Erin Mallon, Lance Greenfield, Joe Arden and Carly Robins was effing fantastic. I loved Tamara's overly crunchy overly eccentric parenting style. Maybe because I have met people like that to some extent but I was hysterical and Erin performed it so seriously, I have no idea how she did it without laughing at every line. Joe Arden was incredible as Ben, truly, he maintained a child voice through...
🎧 Audio Review 🎧I don't think anyone is more surprised than I am at how much I truly enjoy these Audio Plays. My face hurt when I finished this one from smiling and the only word that came to mind is weird, but in a really good way! Then after speaking to a friend she explained it better by saying this was "Brilliant yet peculiar in true Erin fashion". Go into this with expectations of laughing at the absurd characters and creative writing. Also the bloopers at the end are hilarious! The narratio...
The story is about family dynamics, how happiness is not always so clear cut and that as an entity one is always in the search for something to make us feel whole and that we belong. The performance is what got me! These actors dove right in and owned their characters. I was weirded out in an amazed sort of way at the accuracy of the sound and the brilliance of the pacing and editing. It's definitely something very different from my usual but very Erin Mallonish in that it makes you think beyond...
