"Yeah, that wasn't very manly of you, Carl. I thought nut-kicking was a big no-no amongst guys."In the second book of "Dungeon Crawler Carl" Carl and Donut are trying to survive the third floor. I liked this book a lot because I really love the dynamic between Donut, Carl and Mordecai. I'm looking forward to part three.
Another great entry in the series. The book just like the first, was hilarious with great scenes.Hearing my name in audiobook format was funny and caught me off guard.Carl and Donut are really fun to follow around.Mordekai had a great and effective presence throughout this book.Really looking forward to just how strong Lucia Mar is.Oh, and the long awaited race and class selection definitely did not disappoint.Loving how steady the characters are getting more powerful.
Don't get me wrong, this was an enjoyable book and my rating reflects that.It was creative, like the first one. The characters get really put into situations that are entertaining and while reading this as it comes out would probably be more suspenseful, the fact that there are 5 books of the series out removes some of the situational angst.Nonetheless, the one and only problem I have with this book is that the author uses too much of the "hidden advancements". There were at least 4 times, that
3 stars since I liked it. This will be updated as new chapters come out, I guess. The last book was better. I assume people will only look at this review after reading the first book, so here are the ways that this book is worse than the last: (don't get me wrong, it's still an okay book, just not as good)1) More wasted time. There is more unnecessary technical talk than the last book. This is an especially big deal to me since I've been reading at a pace of 100,000-300,000+ words per day(this is...
Love it! One of the better audiobook and series I've listened to. On to book 3!
Brilliant and exciting as Reality TV is, only it’s Mad Max meets the Running ManBrilliant and exciting as Reality TV is, only it’s Mad Max meets the Running Man with interludes, interviews and mayhem!I couldn’t stop reading this series from the moment I started it, Carl and Donut drew me into their tragic sudden starring role in a real life or death dungeon crawl. This is no game, there are no extra lives only last minute saves I’d you are lucky enough to earn or loot one.More of the galactic cr...
Great book. Great characters and a slightly dark but funny story. I think without the humor it would really be a slog to get through. Cannot wait for the next one.
A cut above the restI'm surprised I'd never heard of Matt before stumbling across the first Carl book.Absent are the typical litrpg flaws of wooden supporting characters, awkward turns of phrase, and a world created to show off how cool the MC is.I felt like I was back in my youth reading a TOR-published novel, from the relentless pacing to the creative subversion of typical tropes.Ended up reading books 1 and 2 in two sleepless nights, and I was entertained for every goddamn page.Bravo
You bastard! You know what you did! Where is the next book??!
Recap time.Written by Matt Dinniman, Dungeon Crawler Carl tells the tale of the end of the world. Earth has missed out on a payment on a deal that happened 2,000 years ago, and the people who made the deal decided that it wouldn’t be a good thing to tell us about it.Earth’s resources are therefore forfeit as are the lives of every organism on the planet. But there is a slim impossible hope. You see, Earth doesn’t have anything worth anything. The aliens make their money through a dangerous realit...
I am not a binger. I'm always a season or two behind on television shows because I watch a few episodes and pause to digest what I've seen so far. Then I come back and view more, etc. Frustrates my husband to no end as he always wants to discuss the ending with me....and I'm forever 8 episodes or more behind him. Same with books. I don't want to hit the current book and have to wait a year on a cliff hanger to find out what happens, so I meander my way through a series. Just not a binger.Until t...
As enjoyable as the first one. While the amount of laugh-out-loud moments decreased a little, intrigue and plot stepped up to compensate.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is going to be (if it isn't already) one of the standout examples of the LitRPG genre.Diving straight into book 3.
constant funThe irony of this book is that the mc and his cat are in this terrible life or death game show run as entertainment for aliens, which is awful. And yet I’m reading this book for entertainment as the characters suffer. Am I as bad as the aliens?
Carl's Doomsday Scenario picks up where we left off. Carl and Donut going on a fast paced, hilarious adventure together. I still really love this books combo of funny jokes and bits, along with the more serious notes that are peppered throughout. I've seen other reviewers say that it's nothing but a silly romp. It would be really good, if that was all there was to it, but it's not. There is a serious story in the background. I won't give anything away from this book, for those who haven't read i...
