I am so fucking hyped for the rest of this crossover now. I loved the scene with the quiet counsel and Apocalypse was so great in this issue. Exciting time for the X titles.
Epicness begins! Already enjoying this more than War of the Realms or Empyre, and that egyptian design they used for the sons of Apocalypse need some sort of award, probably the coolest looking villains ever. Hickman and Larraz are Krakoan gods.
Now, that's more like it!
Well, bravo!Amazing writing, beautiful art, what a fantastic comic!I was slightly concerned, going into this, that a lot in the build up simply didn't make sense, or add up. That people were trusting people they probably shouldn't be trusting. And I didn't get how everything fitted together. Now everything is much clearer and I'm simply left feeling excited for this event. It's also just always fun seeing Apocalypse get stabbed.
That was a lot! Wow. Betrayals death, near death, contests! Holy hell this is crazy. This is a great way to kick off an event. Let’s not even forget that Cable reactivated “The Peak”. Wonder what that was for.
Wooooooooowwwwww!!!! Ngayon na lang uli ako na excite with an x book! Very promising, old school fun!
Whewwww baby! You wanna talk about something that met and exceeded expectations.Mild SpoilersI had a really strong inkling that a few to several plot points, threads from Excalibur that would continue and expand in this issue. And I was right. What I didn't anticipate is what would happen in this issue with those threads. If you've been reading Excalibur from the beginning, whether you like it, love it, or not, I'd recommend you stick with it a little bit longer. There will definitely be some cul...
LOVE IT!!! Perfect start to a highly anticipated event and I am excited to see the rest! Not gonna waste time writing a lengthy review because I need to get on twitter and YouTube and read / watch all the fan theories and recaps. X of Swords is going to be dense and complex – in an awesome, mind-blowing way.
Great intro to the event. So much that was happening in Excalibur and X-Men over the past few months makes sense now. Except what happened to Rockslide? This whole exoskeleton-over-energy-being thing has me so curious. ...did old Cable call Cyclops and Jean "mom and dad"? I don't remember him doing that.
This was amazing!!! Perfect start.
Chapter 1-creation.perhaps the start of the greatest mutant story ever told!
While I appreciated that this issue was longer than usual, it still had difficulty giving a fair share of time to every character who made an appearance. A lot happened within a short amount of time, and there was very little opportunity for the characters to take a break.(I legit miss the days where the X-Men could enjoy a game of baseball.)Tarot cards are featured surprisingly heavily. Especially given how the character "Tarot" normally isn't even known for predicting the future. Her power is
So the art and the story around apocalypse were top notch, thoroughly enjoyed those parts.I knocked a star off and would have been two if it wasn't for the above as I was a little underwhelmed. Perhaps more story will make it better but at the moment it's a 20 odd comic arc for a few people to have some sword fights..... The citadel lady seemed a little pointless as well, her big plan is a swordfight....If all she wants is the evil folk off her land and she doesnt care for mutants just let them
Wow this was great, Hickman has a knack for making things feel epic.
The word epic is used too much but man oh man, does it apply whenever Hickman is writing. The summer's family working together, Apocalypse and a band of other mutants go into the Otherworld only to meet something they never expected, multiple storylines from the past few issues coming all together, creepy villains everywhere...this is gonna be fucking amazing.
I love where this is going. I need to hunt down the whole X OF SWORDS story arc. I'd basically given up on the whole X-men franchise but Hickman's Krakoa run brought me back stumbling and I've stayed ever since. I can't say for sure I've followed these story arcs chronologically. I tend to chance on these individual comics and read them cos it's Hickman. The artwork is always an absolute marvel. Some of the plotpoints go over my head and though I can't stand the footnotes sections. I endure them...
I found this to be a really exciting setup to what will hopefully be a great event. Collating the main Excalibur arc with the rest of the Dawn of X story felt great as a reader as things were explained and started making sense. The teasing of the swords and the large conflict to come of the champions of Arakko and Krakoa makes me very excited to read on. The art, as always with Dawn of X is great. The real stand out moment of this story was the Quiet Council's discussion, I have previously writt...
I'm a simple man I see swords I read it.
