I've been very excited about this comic. After reading this first issue, I'm still excited about it but I agree with others who have said it's very weird and kind of difficult to get used to. I like the plot point of technology taking over the parents lives but at the same time I hate it for all the reasons everyone has stated- it's just so drastically different from the show. I plan to keep picking it up though and enjoying it as something different than what I'm used to when I think of Rugrats...
Too modernEverything is from today. If i didnt grow up watching rugrats i would like this. It felt off with the parents using drones and cell phones.
this one was so weird because of all those technology topics. they were unnecesary and I don't know why they chose them to develop these new comics. weird...
The nostalgia is all over the place. So now Rugrats. Looking back on it, I have no idea why I loved Rugrats so much. It's such a weird concept "Let's relate to babies with baby characters" but damn, we ate that shit up. I'd still watch the shit out of that show! (Now I just interpret Tommy and Chuckie's relationship as queer af)Anyways, this interpretation of the characters feels so out-of-character, or maybe it's because we can't hear the distinctive voices of the characters. The crew tries to
I absolutely hated this. I love Rugrats and will still watch it occasionally. The art style is weird and was kind of hard to get used to. But I could get past that. But the writing is so so terrible. The babies all speak like literate adults. Very weird. But it wouldn't be as weird if they didn't every 4 pages use a baby word like "ascared." I mean, just speak how they did in the show. Also, Tommy's character is unlike his on the show and I didn't really like it.But still, the absolute worst par...
I really didn't care much for this, since it showcases the parents being obsessed with technology. Really - they use technology for everything. I liked the original *Rugrats* cartoon much better, since it didn't deal with all that.1.5*
eh, this was alright. Just too weird to see the words "DM", "LIKES" & "DRONE" being mentioned in Rugrats. Plus, they all look like crack heads.
4.5 stars
Oh nostalgia! Came across this gem browsing Hoopla. I love the art work, and I can totally hear Chuckie's and Tommy's voice while flipping through. It's interesting to see the parents all caught up and addicted to technology. I'm excited to read what's next. Talk about a blast from the past! :)
This was... weird? That's sort of the only way to describe it. I was really excited going into this, because Rugrats were a huge part of my childhood. And that's definitely what this is playing off of - they expect to draw a lot of people in with 90s nostalgia. But it just felt so strange to read. The art style was close to the original show in some ways, but very different in others. Tommy looked so, so different to me, and it was hard to get past that. And it was also hard to see all the paren...
Rugrats are not my thing. I am too old for them. When they were popular, I was already well into adulthood. Other than taking m daughter to see the movie when it came out, I couldn't tell you squat about this franchise. But I searched for some appropriate comic books to put in my classroom. The (not so)LCBS had the first five of this series, so I purchased them. I like to read what I put out for the students. This was a hoot! The children know something is up with their parents. From baby monitors...
