my annual smutty hockey book buddy read with my pal arianna continues in 2021 with this book that had very little hockey and also poorly written poetry.sigh
I was not going to rate this book very high because it took me a while to really get into it and the storyline wasn’t very believable. One of my favorite authors said that HOT AS PUCK was one of the best hockey romances she's read, so with that glowing endorsement I thought I'd be in for a good and enjoyable read. 4 Sweet Stars This book grew on me. I wasn't sure about it at the start but it picked up and the characters were engaging. Justin is a hot shot hockey player who has been friends with Libby for years. Suddenly these two are seeing each other in a whole new light and they both fall hard.It's a little bit instalove but then they have known each other for years.Sexy , fun, low angst and a gorgeous HEA. I realize the stories we read are a far cry from reality. I mean we read romance novels, right? But there comes a point where the story is so ridiculous, you simply can't get into it. Our lady lead is a virgin kindergarten teacher who wears super baggy clothes, no makeup, and knits for fun. 1.5 StarsYou can't escape all the cliches in this one: - the frumpy, nerdy h who never ever had luck with a guy - the man whore H who's a professional hockey player- him showing her how to get the guy she's secretly in love with You know what's happening...I don't mind a story line which has been told before if the author tries to make the story special. Unfortunately, there's nothing special about 'Hot as Puck'. It's a short read and that was the only reason for me to finish this book.

Pretty good puck...I enjoyed this friends-to-lovers short story and thought the main characters were pretty entertaining. I think the main problem with a short story like this is that we don't get a lot of time "seeing" the reformed manwhore become a monogamous and dedicated loving man.
