Carrefour Tarot

Carrefour Tarot

Sean Woodward
5/5 ( ratings)
Designed by Sean Woodward, an initiate of the Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua, the Carrefour Tarot deck is a NON STANDARD deck of 64 cards, based on the 16-fold system of the OTOA and Monastery of the Seven Rays. It explores the energies of the Masters, Initiates, Priests and Hierophants of the Four Crosses. It has influences from traditional Vodou, Gnostic and Cosmic Voudon.

"The main cards are in a state of Manifest Active Expression whilst the others are in Archetypal or Abstract form. This division enables a determination to be made in divination as to how the subject relates to these energies and powers and to the nature of situations. As the majority of the cards are assigned to the four great crosses, the elemental attributes of the directions can be explored for divinatory meaning. For simpler divination, the Manifest cards generally represent 'Yes', the Archetypal ones 'No'.

One owner gives an example of practical use of the deck. "What I do is ask a question and then I am usually directed to count a specific number of cards down. This is not something I normally do, but it has been occurring a lot since I started using this deck. I always draw cards one at a time and usually only work with a few per question . Whichever card comes up is naturally met with resistance because I have no idea what the card 'means'. So, instead of worrying about this I use the artwork itself to see symbols and images, sort of like scrying. A curve here, a twist there is enough to inspire the intuitional leaps that shake out the answer."
