Glenn Greenwald completely dominated this debate. The others may as well have not been there. Hayden, a former director of the CIA, is your typical lying shill for the deep state. Dershowitz is a slippery and nasty character, and doesn’t seem to believe in the values he professes. This debate is essentially a showcase of Glenn Greenwald's powerhouse talent, quick wit and unflappable command of the facts regarding the security state.
Repetition of already existing arguments ‘for’ and ‘against’ the topic in the public realm. You can skip this read if you are savvy of reading articles or following news on the subject.
All this book really does is reaffirm the importance of its topic - none of the arguments are particularly convincing. I have a pro-Greenwald bias, but I do think he comes off looking the best here. Dershowitz makes some interesting points as well.
I watched the debate in parallel with reading the book. Much more entertaining this way, I could see what was polished and left out, but mostly, my experience was given by the debate itself, which I found engaging, although not very solid. I guess it's the format of debates, as general Hayden says, "accusations fit on a bumper sticker, truth takes much longer" (paraphrasing).
