Carlos Came Home

Carlos Came Home

James Moffett
0/5 ( ratings)
Bob Beckett is awoken one night by a call from an old friend. The news that she bears is the news that Bob had hoped never to hear; his half-brother Carlos was coming back from New York.

The two could not have been more different. Where Bob was a quiet man who ran the family business in the small town where they both grew up, Carlos was unbalanced and volatile, and prone to violent rages that had long held his small Texas in fear.

Bob is convinced that his unhinged brother is coming back to kill him, but in a small town where everyone knows everyone else's business, others harbor their own suspicions about why the Mexican is coming home.

Only one person knows the real reason that Carlos is returning home, and he cannot ask anyone for help.

The story climaxes late on a rainy night in a cabin in the countryside, when Carlos came home.

Set in a small southwest Texas town, Carlos Came Home is a story that spans two countries and half a century, entwining a young Mexican vaquero, buried gold and tequila smugglers.
